Archstoyanie 2008. Winter

Venue: Nikola-Lenivets village
Winter program of the Archstojanie festival will be held at the territory of the land-art park of Nikola-Lenivets village on the 1 of March 2008. Frontier is the main idea of the festival. The festival curators are continuing to investigate material and ideological frontiers in contemporary Russian land-art in parallel with actual processes taking place in “around frontier” zones – architecture, design and art. Groups of the leading Russian architects and artists who have answered the curators’ call present their ideas of the “Frontier” concept. They have made monumental construction for open-air presentation in Nikola-Lenivets village.
Nikolay Polissky, an artist, is developing the theme of national imperial mythology in his volcanic installation “The Firebird”. Engineer support by Vladimir Steben and Dmitry Mozgunov. Music by Sergey Zagniy.
Anna Shetinina, an architect, presents a high-rise arch object “House above a forest” made in accordance with extreme living architecture genre.
Alexander Konstantinov, an artist, raises a so called “Basilica. Izba”, a mysterious structure at the frontier of material and associative, spiritual and spacious.
Nikola-Lenivetskie Promysly Non-Commercial Partnership presents ornithological installation “The Rooks have come”. Authors: E. Zelensky, V. Simonov, A. Belov, A. Gusev, M. Guseva.
Moreover, the open competition for creation of a winter land-art object is going to be held within the frames of the Festival. Architects, artists, landscape designers, journalists participate at the competition. The international jury including Eugene Ass (an architect, Russia), Bart Goldhoorn (editor in chief of the “Project Russia” magazine, Holland), Andreas Hoon (an architect, Bureau Moscow, Germany) is going to choose the winner.
